Conscious Consumer Report: Vegan LaBante Crossbody
Today I’m excited to share with you a brand that is vegan, sustainable, AND ethical. LaBante London is leading the way with innovative design methods and killer style. Who says it has to be hard to shop consciously?
LaBante’s products go way beyond vegan leather. Through an innovative process of melting and cooling plastic bottles, they create their own polyester. Once spun, this magical polyester is then used for the interior in all their handbags. The vegan leather, on the outside of the bag, is made from two types of materials: polyurethane and recycled vegetable fibers!
I give this brand a 5 out of 5 on the conscious consumption scale, for hitting all the boxes (vegan, sustainable, and ethical).
My LaBante item of choice is the Nude Vegan Crossbody, SO cute!
I planned to create 2 looks, but I couldn’t help myself. After a couple of simple swaps, I ended up with 4 easy to recreate outfits that you can style with any (consciously-purchased) neutral crossbody bag.
Let’s get into it.
Keep it casual …
OUTFIT #1:
J. CREW Super high waisted jeans
This look is me, on the daily. It’s pretty obvious at this point, half my joy in getting dressed is wearing brands I can get behind. Wear Bear Bones makes the best graphic tees with sassy, hard-hitting, vegan messages. I also love taking scissors to a graphic tee to get the perfectly unperfect tailored crop — stay tuned for a DIY post on cropping your own tee.
I paired this tee with some high-waisted skinnies and my Matisse slides. “Leather” looks effortless and unexpected with a t-shirt and jeans. My favorite part of this look is how the crossbody matches the graphic so perfectly.
Try it with an unexpected color …
OUTFIT #2:
J. CREW Super high waisted jeans
Slouchy burnt mustard cropped sweater
This blushy pink nude might feel femme, but don’t be afraid to pair it with an unexpected color. I love the way these colors interact, not too feminine or masculine, creating the perfect amount of tension. The texture of this sweater also makes the look feel a bit more sophisticated. You can totally wear this outfit to work or, even better, on a dinner date.
Dress her up …
Pair this structured bag with your most fabulous, free-flowing summer dress. I bought this dress on a whim in Manhattan Beach and, after this combo, I am NOT regretting it. The way the structure in these Matisse boots and the bag offset the flowiness of this dress is pure magic. Finish the look off with some simple layered necklaces. I played with thin, opal beads, stacked bangles, and a chunky boho ring. I’m in love.
Color-block
I couldn’t resist throwing in this pic of the bag paired with my color-blocked Matisse heels. You can get a look like this by choosing 3 colors in similar color families and keeping the silhouettes structured and clean. Peep some street style inspo below …
